Social And Environmental Accountability Policy

This policy articulates our vision and commitments to be socially and environmentally accountable.

 

Saladino’s strives to conduct business in a socially responsible and respectful manner. We are committed to understanding the social, economic, and environmental outcomes created by our business and minimizing any potential negative impacts to individuals, families, and communities. Due to their direct impact on us and our stakeholders we have prioritized the following issues to be addressed: waste reduction, reduced carbon footprint, health and safety, as well as financial solvency. Our attention to these environmental, social, and economic matters includes working within the law and voluntarily exceeding legal requirements to be innovative and demonstrate leadership on the issues that are important to us and our stakeholders.

 

Among the many statutes, guidelines, and recommendations with which we comply, we also commit to:

 

  • Keep energy usage low, by using energy efficient bulbs.

  • Turn off lights when a room or warehouse aisle isn’t being used through occupancy sensors.

  • Recycle as much waste material as possible.

  • Optimize the fuel we consume.

  • Utilize electric material handling equipment.

  • Convert our fleet to electric vehicles where possible.

  • Ongoing route design to minimize total miles.

  • Promote a paperless environment.

  • Recycle equipment that is no longer of use to the company.

  • Purchase products with a lower environmental impact where possible.

  • Avoid unnecessary travel by making use of instant messaging, video/audio conferencing, telephone and email.

  • Deal with our suppliers and potential suppliers fairly and ethically and in accordance with our purchasing practice and policy.
